FORGO is an initiative incubated by Stockholm based design studio Form Us With Love, best known for their sustainable initiatives with brands like IKEA and founding of other ventures in areas beyond furniture. FORGO is the fourth venture from the studio. They partner with entrepreneurs wanting to design real change.
We consider the full lifecycle of every part of our product. The recycled paper packaging we use has a minimal environmental impact when thrown away and a high chance of being recycled. Our glass bottles and steel pumps are made from sturdy materials meant to last a very long time. These decisions were carefully weighed, and though any method of packaging harbors its own pros and cons, we decided that these options offer the most balanced solution to the single-use plastic problem.
Our paper packaging is reduced to a minimum and made from mostly recycled content. Paper is 72% recycled in the EU. The paper is non toxic to the environment and in most cases will degrade naturally if not recycled. Our bottles are made from glass. Even after a long life of use, glass has a high probability of being recycled. Within the EU 74% of glass is recycled. If it ends up in a landfill, glass is chemically inert and environmentally non-toxic. Our pumps can be sent back to us for proper recycling. In virtually all metrics our product out performs single use plastic items, which we compete with today.
We have carefully selected the packaging materials to ensure it does not end up in landfills - our paper sachets are recyclable in normal recycling paper streams because of a proprietary coating that is soluble in the re-pulping process of paper. Our shipping boxes are made of recycled and recyclable cardboard. Even though we hope you will keep it forever, our bottles are made of glass which can be recycled and in the worst case exist harmlessly in the environment.
We have intentionally selected manufacturing partners located in the countries where FORGO products will be sold. Our paper packaging is sourced and manufactured in Canada and Europe. Our glass bottles are sourced and manufactured in Europe and the US. Our foaming pumps are currently manufactured in China, but we are working with a partner in the Netherlands to have them produced there.
